My Story: Why This is My Work
At Learn & Flourish, I partner with high potential clients across the lifecycle to foster sustainable growth and lasting confidence. My “why” is simple: I believe everyone deserves to thrive in their own way, especially when their brilliant minds don’t fit conventional molds.
For decades, I’ve witnessed the frustration when natural talents are misunderstood, and my mission is to change that, transforming human potential into your most decisive competitive advantage.
Early in my career, a wise counselor told me I needed to be an artist. While I initially thought she meant studio art, I’ve come to realize my true medium is human potential. I bring the weaver’s intricate understanding of individual cognitive threads, the alchemist’s transformative insight to unlock hidden brilliance, and the master architect’s strategic vision to design adaptive systems where complex thinkers truly flourish.
As a pioneer in the University of Pennsylvania’s Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) program, I’ve dedicated my career to merging evidence-based insights with real-world application.
Through my private coaching practice, acclaimed books like The Effort Myth, and dynamic speaking engagements, I’ve guided thousands to success. My expertise consistently bridges neuropsychology and positive psychology with specialized coaching and consulting, translating science into tangible, real-world outcomes for individuals and organizations.
Together we will challenge the myth that gritty effort is the most valuable solution to underachievement. I offer personalized solutions that equip individuals to overcome limiting beliefs and create sustainable action plans tailored to their natural tendencies and contexts.
This method is particularly effective for those with learning, attention, and executive function challenges who often find traditional systems restricting.
My methodology, refined and proven over decades, combines:
My client-centered focus isn’t about quick fixes; it’s about fostering trust and delivering long-term results. The fact that over half my clients return at different life stages or refer others consistently shows how individualized support drives lasting success and connection.
Executive functions are your vital skills for planning, prioritizing, focusing, and managing emotions. When these skills are inconsistently applied, challenged by stress or environment, or simply don’t align with traditional expectations, tasks that seem easy for others can become daily battles. This often leads to avoidance, pushback, or even meltdowns.
While formal testing might not always show it, in real life, factors like anxiety, overwhelm, or unique cognitive styles can significantly impact how executive functions show up. This is more than just underdeveloped skills; it’s about the dynamic interaction of a unique mind with life’s demands.
These challenges don’t necessarily disappear with age, and struggling individuals deserve support without judgment.
That’s where I come in. I’ve spent my career helping people who naturally do things differently find their way to success.
I create custom strategies that fit you, breaking conventional “rules” about learning and working. Together, we’ll uncover the gifts of greater motivation and focus to boost your competence, improve your choices, and build powerful self-direction.
Our work together helps you harness your natural strengths to create lasting change:
Take Sustainable Action:
Personalize Your Approach:
Challenge Limiting Beliefs:
Emotional Regulation & Mental Health: Strong EFs help you manage stress, anxiety, and emotional ups and downs. Weaker EFs? It’s harder to shift perspectives, break negative thought cycles, and problem-solve effectively—key components of resilience and mental health.
Self-Control & Habit Formation: Ever made an impulsive decision you later regretted? Inhibitory control (a core EF skill) helps curb impulsivity, supporting healthy habits like regular exercise, mindful eating, and better sleep—all of which boost well-being.
Resilience & Stress Management: Unpredictable life? The ability to reframe challenges, stay flexible, and adapt to setbacks—all EF-related skills—determines whether you bounce back or get stuck in stress.
Motivation & Goal Achievement: Planning, prioritizing, and following through on goals are EF-driven skills. Strengthening them helps you stop procrastinating and start achieving with confidence.
Relationships & Communication: Good EFs improve perspective-taking, empathy, and conflict resolution. Weak EFs? They can lead to misunderstandings, social stress, and difficulty maintaining connections.
Career Success & Work-Life Balance: From time management and adaptability to financial decision-making, EF skills are crucial for navigating career transitions, preventing burnout, and making wise choices—especially in mid-life.
Health & Cognitive Aging: Your EF strengths predict long-term health. Weak self-regulation is linked to chronic stress, poor lifestyle choices, and cognitive decline, while strong EF skills support longevity and brain health.
